The first and one of the dirtiest steps in the nuclear fuel cycle is uranium mining. Utah has been negatively impacted by uranium mining for decades and a nuclear power revival would likely repeat this dirty past.
During the uranium boom of the 1940s and 50s, thousands of uranium mines were created in Utah and ultimately abandoned, leaving taxpayers with the bills estimated at $125 million dollars. Click here to learn more.
