Ask Gov. Huntsman to say "No" to Italian nuclear waste
That is because Gov. Huntsman has the power through an agreement called the "Northwest Interstate Compact" to say that Utah will not accept EnergySolutions' Italian nuclear waste import. Furthermore, the Governor will be consulted by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission before the license is granted, presenting a perfect opportunity to voice his concerns and say, "No, grazie!" Please take a minute to call Gov. Huntsman at (801) 538-1000 and urge him to do everything in his power to stop EnergySolutions' importation of Italian nuclear waste and to voice his concerns about the proposal to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Use the sample message below and then click 'submit' to let us know you called (The best time to leave a message with the Governor is on business days between the hours of 9 and 5). Sample message: Hi, my name is ____ and I live in ____. I'm calling because I'm concerned about EnergySolutions' plan to import Italian nuclear waste for disposal in Utah. I want to urge Gov. Huntsman to do everything in his power to stop this from happening. At the very least, Gov. Huntsman needs to join with citizens in Utah and leaders from all across the country who have already spoken out against this plan, and voice his concerns to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Thank you. You can also email the governor through his website: http://www.utah.gov/governor/contact.html |
