Rooftop solar in Provo takes a big hit. On Tuesday the city’s utility, Provo Power, was given the green light by council members to raise rates on its solar customers by $3 per kilowatt.
The vote means the average solar customer in Provo could see an additional $20 a month on their energy bill. That may not sound like much, but it adds up to about $9000 over the life of the solar array. At that price, green energy advocates say it could make solar energy out of reach for many Utah families.
