The Utah Capitol was buzzing as the 2024 legislative session came to a close on Marzo 1st. After a whirlwind of activity, over 500 bills were signed into law, shaping the future of the beehive state. At HEAL Utah, we’ve been diligently monitoring, opposing, and supporting over 50 bills alongside community members and elected officials, focusing on crucial issues like air quality, renewable energy, radioactive and toxic exposure, the Great Salt Lake, and mining. Here’s a recap of the highs and lows of this year’s session.

DECLARACIÓN:HEAL Utah anima a PacifiCorp a comprometerse a detener las unidades de combustión de carbón en Utah, pero advierte de la necesidad de orientarse hacia la energía nuclear.

SALT LAKE CITY - PacifiCorp ha presentado hoy su Plan de Recursos Integrados (IRP) preliminar para 2023, que incluye su compromiso de cerrar dos centrales eléctricas de carbón en Utah. La directora ejecutiva de HEAL Utah, Lexi Tuddenham, ha publicado la siguiente declaración al respecto.

22 años de impacto

Lo que empezó como un grupo de ciudadanos preocupados que se unieron en Tooele para proteger su comunidad ha crecido hasta convertirse en un colectivo de más de 20.000 simpatizantes de todas partes de Utah. No podríamos estar donde estamos hoy si no fuera por todos los que construyeron esta organización, fijaron su rumbo, nos mantuvieron responsables y en el buen camino, y compartieron sus recursos para ayudar a acercar cada vez más nuestra visión colectiva de un mundo más limpio y saludable.
