Concerns over global warming, energy independence, and projected energy demand have recently given the nuclear industry--largely dormant since the Three Mile Island accident--new life. Today, we hear claims that nuclear energy is the silver bullet for addressing climate change...One cannot discuss the future of nuclear power without assessing its legacy. After five decades, where is nuclear power compared to the promises the industry promulgated? Is nuclear power "too cheap to meter" yet? Has the nuclear waste problem been solved? Have we been able to disconnect the nuclear fuel cycle with nuclear weapons production?
