Together we know the impact our collective efforts have on our local community, the greater state of Utah, and the nation as a whole. So, it’s imperative that we reflect on all the hard work that our many dedicated volunteers, determined lobbyists, and generous donors contributed to our numerous efforts this past year.
Issue Update: Salt Lake City Moves Forward with EV-Readiness Ordinance.
On April 4th, the Salt Lake City Council unanimously voted to adopt an “Electric Vehicle Readiness Ordinance,” requiring 20% of parking spaces in new multifamily buildings to be “Electric Vehicle-ready.”

STATEMENT:HEAL Utah Encourages PacifiCorp to Commit to Halting Coal-Fired Units in Utah but Cautions Direction Towards Nuclear Energy
SALT LAKE CITY – Today, PacifiCorp filed its preliminary 2023 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), which includes its commitment to closing two coal-fired power plants in Utah. HEAL Utah’s Executive Director, Lexi Tuddenham releases the following statement regarding this issue.

As electric vehicle (EV) adoption continues to grow rapidly in Utah, so does the need for charging infrastructure. Installing home charging stations can be expensive and is often out of reach for individuals living in moderate to low-income housing or for renters in general.
2023 Legislative Recap
On Friday, March 3rd, the 2023 Utah Legislative Session officially ended with a record 1,400 bill requests, 933 bills filled, and 575 bills passed. During these fast-paced 45 days, topics such as healthcare, education, and even updating Utah’s state flag gained special attention from Utahns.

TAKE ACTION: Fill out this action alert and take a moment to share your personal stories and concerns regarding air pollution. The more stories and comments that we share with our government officials, the more likely we are to see the strongest standards set for soot pollution. The deadline is March 28th.
